ESEO-PDU

ESEO-PDU

The Power Distribution Unit (PDU) is a subsystem of the ESEO satellite. Its function is to distribute electrical power to other subsystems and the payloads. It monitors the current on each of its outputs and protects the main power bus against single points of failure by switching off malfunctioning payloads. Its construction process allowed students to have an insight into limiter circuits, the implementation of redundancy and complex analogue and digital controlling.

ESEO-LMP

ESEO-LMP

The Langmuir Probe Experiment (LMP) is one of the scientific payloads onboard ESEO. The objective of LMP is to study the properties of Earth's ionospheric plasma by in-situ measurements. It can measure the electron temperature, the electron density and the ion density of the plasma by obtaining its voltage-current characteristic. Students were involved in all phases of development from understanding the underlying physical principles to designing, building and validating the experiment hardware.
